Last two consecutive weekends, have been the RSGBs yearly Affiliated societies contests and I managed to have a play in both neither was a serious effort due to the antenna being a 1/2 G5RV with loading coils for 80m which is a compromise for starters then also being limited to 50w so being able to hold a frequency would be impossible when the big runs are running 400w and dipoles at reasonable heights!
However non the less I gave it a go in the CW leg I managed to work 50 QSOs with the help of MixW and CW Skimmer with the audio from shared using a virtual audio cable which worked reasonably well although crashed once or twice 🙂
SSB Leg was a little more easier and I ended up with 60 QSOs although again rather hard going.
